Not being in demand in the domestic market does not mean it is not selling. Starting from a trial and error, this Lamongan resident’s charcoal briquette product is actually selling well in the foreign market. Limited production equipment makes it impossible to fulfill all charcoal briquette orders.
Budi Santoso, a resident of Sambeng District, has proven that he is able to export his wood charcoal briquette products to the international market, even though his wood charcoal briquette production is not in demand domestically. Without hesitation, he was able to export his wood charcoal briquettes to the Middle East market.
“For domestic purposes, this charcoal briquette is still not in demand and so far I have sent my products abroad,” said Budi Santoso when chatting with detikcom, Friday (17/12/2021).
Initially, said Budi, he started his business as a wood charcoal maker. On the advice of several friends and colleagues, Budi then pioneered a new business path that was still in the same breath as the charcoal business, namely charcoal briquettes to meet the export or overseas market, especially Middle Eastern countries.
“I started the charcoal business about 3-4 years ago, then for this charcoal briquette only about 2 years ago,” he added.
Since the beginning of making this charcoal briquette, Budi has indeed targeted the overseas market. Now, Budi, assisted by employees who are still local residents, can produce as much as 3 tons of charcoal briquettes. Once sent to the Middle East, he is able to send at least 2 containers every month.
