Ahead of Eid al-Adha, demand for coconut shell charcoal increases

The demand for coconut shell charcoal ahead of Eid al-Adha 1445 Hijriah/2024 in Temanggung, Central Java, has increased compared to normal days.

A coconut shell charcoal producer in Beji Kidul Hamlet, Walitelon Utara Village, Temanggung District, Ifan Ristianto, in Temanggung, Saturday, said that the demand for coconut shell charcoal ahead of Eid al-Adha reached one ton per day.

“On normal days, the average demand to us is 3-5 quintals, but ahead of Eid al-Adha it can be one ton per day and we are trying to meet market demand,” he said.

He said that the current charcoal market is in the local Temanggung market and several surrounding cities, such as Magelang, Kendal, and Dieng (Wonosobo).

According to him, on average, for the time being, production can only reach three to five quintals of dry packaging every day.

“Charcoal briquettes priced at Rp5,500 per kilogram can be picked up at the location or we can deliver them to the address you want,” he said.

He explained that he took the materials for making charcoal briquettes from several cities in Central Java, including Semarang and Pati, where there are many coconut shell burning entrepreneurs.

“The advantage of using coconut shell charcoal briquettes is that the smoke is not too much when burned, there is no fire when fanned or there are no sparks and they are more durable, one kilogram can last three to four hours,” he said.
